I just wanted to make you all aware of the fact that we have updated the firebird database inside the installer for SAM Broadcaster. If you have problems with your database failing or having issues you can optionally install the upgrade when you upgrade to SAM Broadcaster 2013.4.
In the components window of your SAM Broadcaster + Firebird installer simply check the box to 'Install Firebird'. This will upgrade your firebird database to the latest version.
At this time we do not advise you to upgrade if you are not experiencing problems with your database.

I went to my spacial.com user page but cannot locate the 2013.3 download. Is there any other place I can get it?

Location: Cologne (Germany) | what happen to MYSQL database, is Firebird by default now? Nothing. At least not recently. Firebird is the default database ever since MySQL changed their license and disallowed commercial software to distribute the MySQL installer bundled. (IIRC that was a few years ago when it was still MySQL AB, before Sun took over and way before Oracle bought Sun) For a limited time you could get seperate installers from the Spacial homepage. One with and one without firebird included. Nowadays the one without firebird is only available if you know where to find it. However, that doesn't keep you from running SAM with MySQL. The only difference is the filesize. While installing a database System (MySQL, MS SQL, Postgres or Firebird) before running the SAM installer is mandatory with the sambc-up.exe, you can (but don't need to) install sambc-fb.exe with Firebird without downloading and installing a seperate software by hand.

Posts: 5 | A question, I was running MySQL before the upgrade, now notice Firebird is reinstalled... how do I ensure MySQL is the database used as I've crushed Firebird, not strong enough.

You can install and forget it or you can always download the sambc-up instead of sambc-fb version of the installer.
Just because SAM comes bundled with Firebird or because you installed it, that doesn't mean you have to use the two together.
